[edit]The deleted text should be reinstated. The resignation of a president elect is an important part of the union's history and this appears to be the first time a resignation has happened.
Student newspapers are regularly cited to document events both on this page and in other pages about student unions. In any case, the resignation has received extensive media coverage beyond the student media in Indian newspapers, Indian television and some UK newspapers. - Optimusprimenoodles, two things upfront:
- If an edit to an article (in this case the addition of the "Scandal") is reverted, discuss the matter before reinstating it, you might want to see WP:BRD.
- Are you the same user as Rashmiisarash (talk)? If so, you have to declare it as per WP:SOCK.
- Regarding the content itself, I believe to be undue, given that it currently makes up a third of the Union's history. Caius G. (talk) 11:46, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
- You deleted saying, "doesn't seem like there is any sustained coverage beyond student newspapers and a couple of notices in bigger ones". How do you quantify "sustained" newspaper coverage ? This has been reported in "The Indian express" and "The Times" both of which are reliable sources according to WP:RSP. μTalk 16:23, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, keep in mind that my reversion was 10 days ago when the event didn't get as much attention as it does now (the Times article you link to is from yesterday, the 15th). While I think it would be sensible to wait for further developments given that it involves an otherwise non-notable living person, policy probably mandates the addition of a sentence or two about the event. Caius G. (talk) 18:20, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- I believe coverage is clearly warranted given that the matter has now been discussed in the Indian Parliament. This incident has been covered significantly more than many others on this page. Optimusprimenoodles (talk) 08:18, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

- It does seem to me unduly long for the article. 2603:7000:2143:8500:E8A8:C776:C241:61F9 (talk) 21:07, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
OSSL
[edit]The abbreviation OSSL is used just twice on the page, and on neither occasion is its meaning explained. It should be.
Ditto for MPLS.

When did the university recognize the union?
[edit]The article says "the university relented, and formally recognised the OUSRC in 1970.[citation needed]"
If so, why did we occupy the Examination Schools in 1973 to agitate for recognition? i.e. citation very much needed otherwise I don't believe it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.97.62.77 (talk) 19:16, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
